Who we are
Sorrentino’s Compassion House was born from the belief that no woman should face cancer alone. It’s more than a place to stay. It’s a space where women find connection, comfort, and moments of light during a difficult time.

Nice to meet you

Our Board of Directors

Our story
Sorrentino’s Compassion House began with a simple but important realization: women travelling to Edmonton for cancer treatment needed more than just a place to stay. In 1998, a group of dedicated community members came together with a vision of creating supportive accommodations for women travelling from across Northern Alberta for care. Through years of fundraising, planning, and community support, that vision became a reality when the doors to Sorrentino’s Compassion House officially opened in 2002 with five guest suites.
The House grew as the need for it continued to grow. In 2013, Sorrentino’s Compassion House reopened following a major expansion, increasing capacity to 15 guest suites, later growing to 16 suites in 2018. Today, Sorrentino’s Compassion House continues to provide accommodations, community, and support to women travelling to Edmonton for cancer treatment, while Compassion House Foundation serves as the charitable organization responsible for fundraising and sustaining the House for future guests.
