Volunteers are an integral part of the operation of Sorrentino's Compassion House (SCH). Our goal is to provide a warm, comfortable and safe setting for our guests and volunteer participation makes that possible. A smile and a cheerful environment make a world of difference to the guests!

We are always seeking volunteers to facilitate the operations of SCH. Volunteers are required to participate in an orientation session prior to their initial shift. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Daytime House Volunteers (10:00am-5:00pm) help ensure the home is tidy by performing light house cleaning tasks, provide assistance with guest registration and offer tours to prospective guests, and visitors. Volunteers also take time to enjoy a coffee and visit with guests.

Evening Volunteers (5:00pm-9:00pm) help monitor the home which may include checking-in visitors and ensuring house policies are followed. You also help organize and participate in social activities for the guests such as movie or craft.

Volunteers may also perform administrative tasks as needed.

Resource Center Volunteer
The Resource Center may be accessed by the house guests and the general public. Volunteers assist with information requests, keep the library organized and ensure the material is up-to-date.

Events Volunteer
Sorrentino's Compassion House organizes many fund raising events and volunteers help support the events scheduled throughout the year.

Event volunteers help with pre-event preparation, selling raffle tickets, assisting with auctions, greeting attendees and acting as ambassadors for Sorrentino's Compassion House by providing information about the organization.
