Volunteers are an integral part to the successful operation of Sorrentino's Compassion House (SCH). Our goal is to provide a warm, comfortable and safe setting for our guests and volunteer participation makes that possible. A smile and a cheery environment can make a world of difference!

We are always seeking volunteers to participate in a wonderful team environment that facilitates the operations of SCH. Volunteers are required to participate in our orientation program prior to their initial shift. (Please note: Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older).

The basic duties that help successfully maintain the home are detailed below.

As a Daytime House Volunteer (10:00am-5:00pm) you would participate in a team effort to help insure the home is tidy by performing light housecleaning tasks. In addition you would provide assistance in registering guests and performing tours to prospective guests, and visitors. Volunteers also take time to enjoy a coffee and a visit with guests.

Evening Volunteers (5:00pm-9:00pm) are primarily responsible for monitoring the home including of checking-in visitors and ensuring house policies are followed. You would also help organize and participate in social activities for the guests such as movie night.

Volunteers may also perform administrative tasks as needed.

Resource Center Volunteer
The Resource Center may be accessed by any of the guests within the House as well as general public. Volunteers will be needed to assist with information requests, keep the library well organized as well as ensuring that the material is up-to-date.

Events Volunteer
Sorrentino's Compassion House organizes many fundraising events include of our annual “Fashion with Compassion” event. Volunteers are needed to help support the many events scheduled throughout the year. Roles of an Event Volunteer include pre-event preparation and hands on event activities such as selling of raffle tickets, assisting with auctions, greeting attendees and acting as Ambassadors for Sorrentino's Compassion House by offering information about the organization.
