third-party fundraising guidelines
Several community organizations host fundraising
events and designate the proceeds to the Compassion House
Foundation and Sorrentino's Compassion House. We are sincerely
grateful for the support we receive from these community
organizations and as much as possible, support third-party
fundraisers by providing staff and volunteer assistance. We also
help promote these events in our regular newsletter mailings and
on our web site.
In the interests of protecting our reputation and
charitable status, we ask that organizations hosting third-party
fundraisers follow these guidelines:
- Sponsoring organizations must be in good
standing with the community and must support the mission and
values of the Compassion House Foundation.
- The nature of the event, and the way the event
is marketed, must be in good taste and not negatively impact
the reputation of the Foundation or Sorrentino's Compassion
House.
- The timing of the proposed event must be
mutually agreed upon to avoid scheduling conflicts with other
third party fundraisers or major Foundation events.
- The Sorrentino's Compassion House logo must be
displayed on all promotional literature. Promotional
literature and invitations must be submitted to the Executive
Director of the Compassion House Foundation for approval prior
to printing and distribution.
- Prospective event participants must be made
aware of the amount that will be directed to the Foundation
from each sale or donation and how that money will be used.
The following phrasing is encouraged – “Funds are being raised
for the Compassion House Foundation to support Sorrentino's
Compassion House” or “In support of the Compassion House
Foundation and Sorrentino's Compassion House.”
- The organizers must discuss with the
Foundation, in advance of the event, how proceeds will be
forwarded to the Foundation and how charitable receipts will
be issued.
- The Foundation must have the opportunity to
provide promotional literature and/or information to
participants at the event, as appropriate.
The Compassion House Foundation, a non-profit,
charitable organization, relies on donations to support the
on-going operating costs of Sorrentino's Compassion House, a
warm and supportive home away from home for breast cancer
patients and their families.

party event organizers should discuss these guidelines with
